The largest community in the East Side, and third in the city, celebrates the opening on March 2nd with a party
The Municipal Housing Secretariat (Sehab) launches the book entitled "Jardim São Francisco - Urbanization Global Project," third in the series "New São Paulo Neighborhoods," on March 2nd. A record of the occupation history in the area, since the time when the current third largest community in the city was just a farm in the East Side, during the early 19th century.
Containing 160 pages, "Jardim São Francisco" presents all the municipal interventions in the region, starting with Promorar, during the 1980s, until the elaboration of the Housing Municipal Planning (PMH), in 2005.
Exhaustively documented by photos and images, the book brings forward statements from architects and residents about the main changes on the largest irregular settlement in the East Side.
"A collection as extensive as this one on Jardim São Francisco has never been done. For the first time, the data is collected in a publication, states Keila Prado Costa, one of the book organizers, along side the Housing superintendent, Elisabete França, and the architect Marcelle Dayer of the Sehab East Region (Habi-Leste)."
